  • Try to select the right type. If you're trying to choose between two, go with whichever is first on the list. + Explanation of Types +
    • Feeding: If you do not spend at least one action feeding (or more if you are doing something that takes a lot of blood), you begin game at half blood. If you do not have Herd, you must tell me how you are feeding and what traits you are using. This will usually get a generic response, but you can assume you're fine unless you hear otherwise.
    • Interference: Anything that spies on, interacts, or assists with another character's downtimes.
    • Investigation: Learning things about the plot.
    • Offense: Attacks against NPCs.
    • Defense: Patrolling or reinforcing a location.
    • Personal: Backstory plot and anything that is foucsed on character development and not the main plot, including investigating other PCs. For those of you who know the narrators: If you think Will is going to be the one writing the response, put it here.
    • Research: Non-plot questions about the setting. For example: How do powers work? What's the tech level? What is the leadership structure of this clan?
    • Divination: Oracular Ability and anything else that gives you snippets of plot without actively looking for it.
    • Cookies: Begging for plot cookies. This is what you do when you don't know what to do. Go for a jog, visit a museum, whatever random thing you can think of. Maybe you'll stumble across plot, maybe you'll get in trouble, maybe you'll get mocked, maybe you won't get a response.
    • Shopping: Anything where you obtain equipment (whether you buy it or make it), unless it falls into one of the other categores.
    • Sheet: Supporting a change to your character sheet (merits, flaws, disciplines, etc.), unless it also falls into one of the other categories. ONLY things that change your sheet go here.
    • Information: You don't expect a response and you're not really moving the plot, but it's something that the narrators should know about. Note that this type is for giving us information. If you're looking for information, it should be under Investigation, Personal, or Interference.
    • Other: If you genuinely don't know the category, put it here.
  • Try to use line breaks and quotes as little as possible. DO NOT use tabs or formatting.
  • If you have Oracular Ability or some other power that lets you ask a question at the beginning of game, please put it in your downtimes with "Information" as the source. Even if you want to save it and get your answer at game, remind us to be ready. It does not require an action; use info as the source.
  • Remember to list your specializations for ALL Influence actions. If you don't have a relevant specialization, list them all.
  • If you accidentally open an extra action, put "delete" or something in the action so I know there's nothing missing. I promise there will be a delete button eventually.
  • If you submit two batches of downtimes, you DO NOT need to resumbit the ones you submitted before. Once you submit, it's there until I delete it.
  • You do not need to use an action to improve skills, backgrounds or influences.
  • Crafting actions go under Shopping, unless you are crafting/selling to increase Fame or Resources.
  • If you are actually trying to accomplish something, it doesn't go under cookies.
  • I don't necessarily see the downtimes in the order they are submitted. If two of your actions interact (make a thing and then do a thing with it, for example), please start with "Do the thing (1 of 2)", etc.
  • You can use two downtime actions to use either Performance (one to promote and one to perform) or Crafts (one to create and one to sell) to increase your Fame or Resources by one for a month. Make sure to specify which one you want.
  • Don't list Influence on other downtimes, and don't list any other traits on Influence actions, except when combining Influences and Resources to obtain items.
  • New type: Divination: Oracular Ability and anything else that gives you snippets of plot without actively looking for it.
  • If you're gathering information: Research gets you setting information, Investigation gets you main plot information, Personal gets you character and backstory information, and Divination gets you whatever information the narrators decide to hand out.
  • If you are the sire/guardian of a Fledgeling, you should use one downtime to care for it. Bad things can happen to unsupervised Fledgelings. This action should be submitted under interference.
  • If you are a Fledgeling and do not want your sire/guardian to know about your downtimes, you should include why and how you are hiding in each secret action.
  • If you submit multiple batches of downtimes, try to make sure you use the exact same character name. Bonus points (not actual points) if you use the same name that I have on the character chart.
  • Spying on someone's downtimes with Computers is an interference action.
  • Actions filed under "Information" are for things that do not require a response. If you are trying to get information, it should go under Investigation, Research, Interference, or Divination.
  • Soul of the Homunculi gives one action per game, not two.
  • If you have a flaw that may be relevant to your action, be sure to include it in your traits.
  • Each character gets three base downtime actions. They can be used for spying or patrolling or anything else you can think of.
  • Talking to another PC rarely requires a downtime action. Don't expect everyone to be available all the time, though. (Most) people have lives outside of LARP.
  • The Computers skill gets you a bonus downtime to use for computer-type activities. You may use action to either spy on or prevent one downtime action of another character. The narrator chooses which downtime is affected.
  • The Science skill gets you a bonus downtime to use for science-type activities.
  • The book says that the Herd background means that you don't need to use an action to feed. I prefer to treat it as giving a bonus downtime that can only be used to feed.
  • Elite and Underworld Influence give bonus actions that can be used in a variety of ways that are too complicated for me to list here. Note that each dot of influence gives you one action per month, not per game.
  • If you are submitting downtimes in more than one batch, I would appreciate it if you made a point to use the same character name on both (not FirstName on one and FirstName LastName on the other, for example)
  • I organize downtimes by character name, and I really only look at player name and email if I don't already have them. If you want to change the name or email that I have in the database, please let me know.
  • Apparently learning in-clan disciplines is supposed to require a downtime. We have not been enforcing this rule, and we will continue not enforcing it. Techniques, elder powers, and out of clan disciplines still require a downtime.
