Accord of the Warden of Blood
The Accord of the Warden of Blood is a document codifying the expectations, requirements, and limits of the Warden of Blood. This document was initially proposed by former Warden Damien Blackfeather and drafted amongst himself and sect leaders. It was signed and adopted in October 2052.
Damien Blackfeather expressed the need for this document to prevent abuse of both the position of Warden of Blood and by the Warden of Blood. Important points of the document outline how the Warden of Blood is selected, what are considered crimes against the Warden of Blood, and duties of the Warden of Blood. Prior to this document, the expectations of the Warden of Blood by kindred of the island varied wildly. Such assumptions and lack of clarifications would often lead to the Warden of Blood being seen as not performant of their duties, which was not necessarily the case.
This document is only binding to the Warden of Blood, and does not apply to other Warden's.
Accords of the Warden of Blood[edit | edit source]
1. Representation and Acts of the Warden[edit | edit source]
1.a. The Warden of Blood is not the representative of sects nor kindred; each sect is free to pursue their own relationship with the supernaturals. The Warden of Blood may act as an ambassador if requested.
1.a.1 Deals between Wardens may and can overrule 1.a.
1.c The Warden of Blood may collect and give boons/deals on a personal basis, but any boon/deals that contradicts or compromises the responsibilities as Warden of Blood are null and void.
1.d The Warden of Blood may deputize up to one individual per Sect; an Agent of Blood. While they enjoy the immunity from Commander and Authority passive effects, they are not immune to the active effects nor are above the laws of their sects. This deputization is separate from passive use of Enforcer to deputize someone.
1.d.1 Like the Warden of Blood, they may not hold a position within a sect, but unlike the Warden of Blood, they may not leave the island without permission of the Warden of Blood nor are they allowed to hold artifacts, unless it is to give it to the Warden(s).
1.d.2 Should the deputized individual not wish to serve under the Warden of Blood, they shall be released from service with a combined communication of both the individual and the leader(s) of their sect, delivered to both the Warden of Blood and the other sect leaders. This does not prevent the Warden of Blood from deputizing another member of the same sect.
1.e Any Warden of Blood, Agent of Blood or Deputy via the use of Enforcer is beheld to an oath of secrecy, even after they stop being a Warden of Blood, Agent or Deputy. The oath of secrecy is related to the duties of 2.a and is meant to ensure there that the secrets of the island are not revealed.
2. Warden's Duties[edit | edit source]
2.a The purpose of the Warden of Blood is to keep the artifacts and anything designated under the purview of the Warden(s) on the island secured and prevent them from escaping. The Warden of Blood keeps the island's buried secrets from being uncovered and disposes of them if necessary.
2.a.1 What is considered designated under the purview of the Warden(s) includes, but is not limited to: forbidden knowledge, imprisoned beings, gateways to other places, and anything else that Warden(s) agree on is their purview.
2.c The Warden of Blood has the status of Entrusted and Enforcer.
When deputized by the Warden of Blood, the Agent must uphold the values of the Warden of Blood. And if they refuse to follow the orders of the Warden of Blood, they lose the Defender status.
2.d The Warden(s) have absolute authority on who is and is not allowed to leave the island.
Characters attempting to leave the island via any means detectable by any Warden(s) may and will face judgment.
3. Judgment of the Warden[edit | edit source]
3.a The Warden of Blood is judge, jury and executioner in matters of crimes against the Warden of Blood and the rules mentioned above. The Warden of Blood is allowed to give any punishment short of final death.
3.b When the Warden of Blood intends to investigate or judge a crime, the relevant Sect Leader must be informed of what crimes have been committed and suspected of before a punishment is given if it is possible to do so. The Sect Leader(s) are allowed to involve themselves, but the Warden of Blood has the ultimate authority over the investigation.
3.b.1 Details shared with the sect have to include the nature of the crime, but not specific details or timeframe of the crimes committed.
3.c The following are considered crimes to the Warden of Blood, which includes but is not limited to:
3.c.1 Preventing the Warden(s) from performance of their Duties described in section 2.
3.c.2 Withholding information relevant to the pursuit of their duties.
3.c.3 Blood bonding the Warden(s) and/or Agents of Blood to the third level carries the punishment of final death, and has to be enforced by the Sect Leaders of the island.
3.c.4 Using inhibiting forms of mind control on the Warden of Blood or Agent(s) of Blood, and/or forcing them to make official decisions with mind control.
3.c.5 Breaking the oath of secrecy, provided they were reasonably able to keep their oath intact. Those who cause this oath to be broken are punishable, receiving immediate staking and/or torpor until further punishment is decided.
4. Turnover of the Warden[edit | edit source]
4.a Those Sect Leaders who uphold the will and rules of the Warden(s) can vote. A Warden of Blood can be voted in and out by all the Sect leaders with a majority of votes, each Sect gets one vote. The vote can only be made when it is ensured that the Sect Leader isn’t possessed and not under influence of mind controlling powers using Telepathy.
4.a.1 Someone declaring themselves Warden of Blood no longer will be considered legitimate.
4.b In case the Warden of Blood disappears or dies, the Agent of Blood with the most experience and time spent as Agent becomes the Warden of Blood in all aspects during a transitional period. The Sect Leaders must still hold a vote to elect a Warden of Blood, which must be held within 32 nights of the death or disappearance of the Warden of Blood, either recognizing the Agent of Blood as the new Warden of Blood or replacing the Warden of Blood.
5. Calamities[edit | edit source]
5.a Sect leaders may unanimously establish a contract with the Warden of Blood detailing a goal and time frame granting the Warden of Blood Commander and Authority over forces of the sects against a threat to the region of Caliburn or threat to anything under the purview of the Warden(s) of the island for the duration of the contract.
5.a.1 If one of the signing parties of this contract are to perish or be replaced, the new party to that station inherits responsibility of their side of the contract.
5.a.2 If all the sect leaders who have signed the contract agree to break it, it becomes null and void.
6. Code of Wardens[edit | edit source]
6.a The Warden of Blood who signs this document agrees to the below:
6.b The Warden of Blood in this contract agrees to try to not attack other Warden(s) unless out of self-defense, patrol the island, ensure anything under the purview of the Warden(s) is secured.
6.c The Warden of Blood must be able to contact the other Warden(s) within a reasonable timeframe; in case of island-wide threats and emergencies.
6.d If the position of Warden of Blood is vacant for 33 nights or longer, the Warden(s) may elect a kindred to become Warden of Blood with a majority vote.
6.d.1 If this kindred is in a position of power, they must leave it and assume the role of Warden of Blood or face punishment from the other Warden(s).
